Fractional RF
What is fractional RF?
Fractional RF (Radio Frequency) is a type of non-invasive cosmetic treatment that uses radiofrequency energy to stimulate collagen production and improve skin texture and tone. It works by creating small micro-injuries in the skin’s surface using an array of tiny pins or electrodes that penetrate the skin to a precise depth, delivering radiofrequency energy to the dermis.
This triggers the skin’s natural healing process, which stimulates the production of collagen and elastin fibers, leading to smoother, tighter, and more youthful-looking skin.
Fractional RF can be used to treat a variety of skin concerns, including fine lines and wrinkles, acne scars, uneven skin texture, and sagging skin.
How does fractional RF work?
During a Fractional RF treatment, our skin therapist will first apply a topical anaesthetic cream to the treatment area to minimize discomfort. Once the anaesthetic has taken effect, the skin will be cleaned and prepped for the treatment.
The skin therapist then uses a handheld device with an array of tiny pins or electrodes to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin’s surface. These micro-injuries penetrate the skin to a precise depth, delivering radiofrequency energy to the dermis, which is the layer of skin that contains collagen and elastin fibers.
The device is moved across the treatment area, creating a grid-like pattern of micro-injuries. This process heats the dermis, causing the collagen fibers to contract and stimulating the production of new collagen and elastin fibers.
Is fractional RF treatment for me?
Whether fractional RF is suitable for you depends on your individual skin concerns, skin type, and overall health.
Fractional RF is generally a good option for individuals who are looking to improve the appearance of their skin, particularly those who have fine lines and wrinkles, acne scars, uneven skin texture, or sagging skin. It can also be used to treat hyperpigmentation and sun damage.
However, if you have certain medical conditions or are pregnant, you may not be a good candidate for Fractional RF. It’s important to discuss your medical history with a trained medical professional before undergoing any cosmetic treatments.
Additionally, fractional RF may not be suitable for individuals with very sensitive skin, as the treatment can cause some temporary redness, swelling, and discomfort. However, a trained medical professional can adjust the treatment parameters to minimise any potential side effects.
